Gemini Floor Services specializes in hardwood floor installation & all other types of flooring. You may choose real hardwood, engineered wood, or laminate. Either way, the installation process is basically the same. For residences, most installations can be completed in 2-4 days with minimal disruption. We can remove the existing floor materials and have it disposed of efficiently. We shall inspect and prepare the subfloor if necessary so that your installation goes smoothly and lasts for many years.
To begin the process, we offer a free consultation & estimate. You can view our directory of flooring materials to get some flooring ideas. You can gather some ideas before we meet if you like, otherwise we can offer suggestions to you. Here is a list of most common types of hardwood flooring as well as why we recommend Oak. We do offer all types of hardwood floor installation including nail down, glue down & floating systems. We offer strip flooring, parquet floors & herringbone with any wood type you’d like. We can add in any design elements like borders, medallions & moldings.
Flooring strips, whether hardwood, engineered wood, or laminate, are made with a tongue & groove to interlock. This allows the hardwood floor installation process to proceed relatively quickly. The pieces are laid down starting on one end and set in place working towards the other end. Depending on the type of system you’re having installed, the boards are either nailed or glued down to the subfloor. If it’s a floating system, which is ideal where the subfloor is less than level, a thin layer of cushioning is laid down and the boards are glued together on top of it.
You may choose to get either prefinished or unfinished flooring materials. Prefinished is already finish coated at the factory and ready to go once installed. If it is unfinished then we will coat the floor with stain if desired, and polyurethane to protect the floor and give it a shine. We recommend low odor & fast drying environmental friendly acrylic polyurethane for mostly any hardwood floor installation. More about hardwood flooring installation…
