On the Western waterfront of Brooklyn lies Sunset Park. It’s another Brooklyn neighborhood that it’s residents speak highly of. Friendly folks, cultural diversity, low crime, decent schools, lower costs, abundant transportation and a wonderful park are what people are praising.

You can even see downtown Brooklyn, Staten Island, Jersey & the Statue of Liberty. Included are a playground and swimming pool. The park serves as an ideal meeting place for residents.

Though most residents are families or retirees, young single folks are brewing up another hipster movement down by Sunset Park’s waterfront district called Industry City. As typical, the area is being converted into a hipster haven as warehouses on cobblestone streets are getting turned into lofts, galleries and artisan shops. Nearby Bush Terminal Piers Park is a newer addition to this area where you can get another view of Manhattan & the Statue of Liberty from down on the waterfront.

Shopping in Sunset Park is actually pretty good with it’s abundance of ethnic shops plus budget friendly thrift shops and dollar stores. There’s a Chinatown as well as a “Little Latin America” section. Brooklyn’s Chinatown in Sunset Park is described as less crowded and more authentic. A wide variety of authentic Chinese food & merchandise shops line Eighth Ave. And Fifth Ave offers everything you can imagine from Latin America. There are also Mexican, Puerta Rican and Dominican areas.
